Papal Blessing of the Miraculous Statue of Saint Philomena
Dear devotees of Saint Philomena,
On May 10, 2023, the Rector of the Shrine, with a group of about 300 people, set out early for Rome for the audience with Pope Francis in honor of Saint Philomena, Virgin and Martyr, whose body is kept in the Shrine of the same name in Mugnano del Cardinale.
The Pontifical Prefecture gave a favorable opinion for the blessing of the statue of Saint Philomena by the Pope, for which this very dear image was brought to the people of Mugnano del Cardinale and to all her devotees.
The Pope blessed the statue of Saint Philomena, which was donated to the Shrine in 1806 by Cardinal Luigi Ruffo Scilla, Archbishop of Naples.
During the celebrations of 1823, the statue exuded for three consecutive days the “holy manna”.
The astonishing miracle was documented by the authorities.

The audience organized by the Rector, Fr. Giuseppe Autorino, allowed another historic moment for Philomenian devotion that completely overturns the note written in the margin in the decree of the Sacred Congregation of Rites within the Acta Apostolicae Sedis of February 14, 1961.
It is a historic day for Saint Philomena, since the Holy Father Francis welcomed and blessed the miraculous statue, stating: “Saint Philomena was the protectress of Saint John Mary Vianney, the Holy Curé of Ars; the Holy Curé of Ars is the protector of all priests.

Le 10 mai 2023, le recteur du sanctuaire et un groupe d'environ 300 personnes se sont mis en route de bonne heure vers Rome pour une audience avec le pape François en l'honneur de Sainte Philomène, vierge et martyre, dont le corps est conservé dans le sanctuaire du même nom à Mugnano del Cardinale.
La préfecture papale a donné un avis favorable à la bénédiction par le pape de la statue de Sainte Philomène, pour laquelle cette image chérie a été apportée aux habitants de Mugnano del Cardinale et à tous ses dévots.
Le pape a béni la statue de Sainte Philomène, offerte au sanctuaire en 1806 par le cardinal Luigi Ruffo Scilla, archevêque de Naples.

No dia 10 de Maio de 2023, o Reitor do Santuátrio, partiu bem cedo para Roma com um grupo de cerca de 300 pessoas para a audiência com o Papa Francisco, em honta de Santa Filomena, Virgem e Mártir, cujo corpo é mantido no homónimo Santuário, em Mugnano del Cardinale.
A Prefeitura Pontifícia, deu parecer positivo à benção da estátua de Santa Filomena, pelo Papa Francisco, para a qual esta imagem, muito cara, foi transportada pelo povo de Mugnano del Cardinale e todos os seus devotos.
O Papa benzeu a estátua de Santa Filomena que foi doada ao Santuário em 1806 pelo Cardeal Luigi Ruffo Scilla, Arcebispo de Nápoles. Durante as celebrações de 1823, o simulacro suou “santo manna” por três dias consecutivos. O incrível milagre foi documentado pelas autoridades. Seguindo esse milagre, em Julho de 1827, a audiência organizada pelo Reitor Don Giuseppe Autorino, possibilitou outro momento histórico para a devoção Filomeniana que inverte completamente a nota escrita à margem do decreto da Sagrada Congregação dos Ritos, dentro da Acta Apostólica Sedis de 14 de Fevereiro de 1961.
É um dia histórico para Santa Filomena, já que o Santo Papa Francisco acolheu e benzeu a estátua milagrosa de Santa Filomena, afirmando: “Santa Filomena era a protectora de São João Maria Vianney, O Santo Cura d’Ars, o Santo Cura d’Ars é o protector de todos os sacerdotes. Também a ela, nós sacerdotes, nos confiamos para alcançar a santidade.”
Depois da audiência, todo o grupo se recolheu ao Santuário do Divino Amor, em Roma, para concluir o dia com a celebração da Eucarístia aos pés da Virgem Maria. Um dia de graças e bençãos, apesar da chuva e do cansaço para chegar à Praça de São Pedro, que será recordado pelo significado espiritual e importância histórica.
